Sof Omar, Dire Sheikh Hussein to Be Registered As World Heritage

A study conducted by UNESCO to register the Sof Omar Cave and the Dire Sheik Hussein mosque in Bale Zone of the Oromia State as world heritage has been completed, the Zonal Culture and Tourism Department said.
Department Head Jamal Mohamed told ENA recently that the bid to build a road and a museum for the Sof Omar cave and the Mede Welabu tourist site respectively have already been issued.
Jamal said apart from the Sof Omar Cave and the 900-year-old Dire Sheikh Hussein Mosque, the Dinsho Park, Mede Welabu, a historical site where the Geda System is believed to have first been enacted, and the Bale Mountains range are also found in Bale.
Jamal said the study conducted by UNESCO to register the Sof Omar cave and the Dire Sheikh Hussein mosque as world heritage has been completed and the results will be announced in the near future.
