And

Among the Awliya there are four thousand who are hidden. They don't know one another and are themselves unaware of their excellent state, being hidden from themselves and from mankind. These elite beings are in the realm of 'general saint-ship' (Wilayat aama). The functionaries of Allah's court, involved in the Spiritual Administration are in the realm of 'special saint-ship' (Wilayat khaassa): They are classified in the hierarchy as:

1. Three hundred Akhyaar (good) - very good 'righteous' and upright servants of Allah’

2. Forty Abdaal (substitute)- the pegs of the universe, who live physically on the earth and who are 'substituted' (badal) every time one leaves the physical realm. . In a Hadith Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “There will be 40 Abdaal on the soil of Mulk-e-Sham (Syria) till the Day of Judgement. If one dies another will take his place”

3. Seven Abraar (pious) from among the Abdaal - spiritual guardians

4. Four Awtaad (pillars) from among the Abdaal

5. Three Nuqaba (leaders) and

6. One called Qutb or Ghawth.

-----------------------------------------------------------

1.Akhyar-The Hierarchy of Pious Saints.

2.Abdal-Budala-The Exchange Ones,or Alternates. They are seven.Whoever of the People(of sufism))has journeyed from a place, having lefted a body in such shape that no one knows he is messing-this,and no other,is the Exchanged One.They belong to the heart of Nabi Ibraheem(as)

3.Abrar-The senior Saints who are always in Divine Presence of the Almighty Allah.

4.Awtad-The Pillars. An expression for four(4)men whose stations are the four(4) corners of the world:East,West,North and South.

5.No'qabah-The Examiners-Al-Nuqaba are those who draw the hidden things out of people's selves(Nufus)They are three(3).

6.Ghawth or Qutb-Al Qutb or Al-Ghawth- The Pole or Help or the Cardinal Pole of noble Saints. The one(1) person who forms the focus of Allah Ta'Ala supervision of the world in every age.He belongs to the heart of Israfil(the angels of the resurrection and of form) and he is entrusted with the high station of Sainthood(Wilayat-al-Kubra)

The Abdaal, amongst whom the higher category is called Abraar and Awtaad are the deputies of the Qutb or Ghawth who is the main receiver of Allah's spiritual energy. All others receive spiritual energy through the Qutb. The Abraar and Awtaad are assigned as regional Qutb's in separate areas of the earth. All are answerable to the Supreme Qutb and to spiritual superiors within the network. The identity of the Qutb is veiled to the world due to the sensitive nature of the job. There is also no need for disclosure of his identity since his work is to filter Allah's energy into the world. The teachers of Tasawwuf or Shaykhs are made apparent and visible in the world, since people need contact with them. One of the Shaykhs may hold one of the positions of Qutb or Abdaal but, again, it is not necessary to disclose this.

First the Qubt --Below the Qutb were four 'Awtad', from whose ranks his success was chosen, and below them, in the next rank of the hierarchy, were forty 'Abdal' or Substitutes, who are described as being the pivot of the world and the foundation and support of the affairs of men. Jami relates how someone was asked, 'How may are the Abdal'? and he answered, 'Forty souls', and when asked why he did not say 'Forty men', his reply was, 'There have been women among them'. The biographies of the Muslim saints, such as tose compiled by Abu Nu'aym, Farid al-Din Attar, Ibn al-Jawzi, Jami and Ibn Khallikan and many others, are full of the mention of women Sufis, their saintly lives, their good deeds, and their miracles.

Also

At the beginning of every hundred years a Mujaddid (person to reconsolidate, to restore Islam) will come. However, there is a great difference between mujaddids coming every hundred years and those who come every thousand years. Difference between these two kinds of mujaddids is equal to and even more than the difference between a hundred and a thousand.

Mujaddid is the person who serves as the medium for all sorts of fayd and barakat coming to people in his time. Even those lucky people called Qutb, Awtad, Budala and Nujaba 'qaddas-Allahu ta'ala asrarahum-ul-'aziz' receive their fayd through him.

Question:Sir!Who are the Afrad?

Answer:They are very high ranking Awliya-Allah.There are stations and ranks in Sainthood. After the rank of Ghawth is the rank of the Afrad.

Once the great Wali,Jamal al-'Arifin Shaykh Abu-Muhammed bin Abdullah Al-Basra was asked if Sayyiduna Khidar(as) was alive. He said that he just met him a short while ago.Sayyiduna Khidar(as) related an incident to him and said that while he was travelling in a jungle,he saw a bright light on a hillock. He approached the light to investigate and discovered that the light was coming out from a blanket, which was covering a person who was asleep.

I shook the feet of this person and said to him-"Get up and engage yourself in Dhikrullah."

The man replied-"You carry on with your work and leave me as I am."

I then said to him-"I will make it known to everyone that you are a Wali."

He replied-"Then I will make it famous that you are Khidar."

I said-"Make dua for me."

He replied-"Dua is your share and your rights."

I then insisted:"You will have to make dua."

He replied-"May Allah Ta'Ala in His Divine Dignity increase your status."

After which He said-"Do not be sad if I vanish in front of you."He then vanished.

Sayyiduna Khidar(as) then said this was amazing because no Wali has the power to disappear from my sight. However,I proceeded further and saw another similar light. As I got nearer,I found someone asleep and the light was appearing from the blanket covering the person. As I moved forward to hold the leg and get the person up,a Voice from the Unseen said,"O KHIDAR!BE CAREFUL."A lady moved the blanket, opened her eyes and said to me,"Sir!You stopped until you were ordered to!"

I said to her-"Get up and engage your self in the Dhikr of Allah Ta'Ala."

She replied-"You carry on with your work and leave me in my condition."

I said-"I will make it known that you are a Wali of Allah."

She replied,"Then I will then make it famous that you are Khidar!"

I requested her to make Dua for me.

She replied,"Dua is your right to make."

I insisted, and she said-"May Allah Ta'Ala in His divine Dignity increase your status".

Then She said-"Do not be sad if I disappaer from your vision."

Before she vanished,I asked her if she was the wife of the person he had just met and what was she doing here. She replied in the affirmative and said-"A Waliyyah(Female Wali) had passed away in this vicinty and we were ordered to perform the Ghusal,Kafan,Salaah and Burail."

After informing me of this, she too disappeared from my vision.

Shaykh Abu-Muhammed bin Abdullah Al-Basri then asked Sayyiduna Khidar(as) who these people were.He replied,"They are the AFRAD"Shaykh Abu-Muhammed also asked him if they turn to anyone for instruction. He replied,Yes!ONLY SHAYKH SAYYID ABDUL QADIR JILANI

As for SHAYKH SAYYID ABDUL QADIR JILANI

About his station he himself said "Every saint is at the foot of a prophet and I am at the foot of my grandfather the Apostle Muhammad s.w. Whatever steps my grandfather took I put my step over there, but I could not get to the way of prophethood for only Prophets have access there." God Most High on account of his mystical state, bestowed a sublime authoritative rank on him. He being on the footsteps of the Prophet s.w. is also understood in the context of the hierarchical construction of the hidden spiritual council.

According to Ibn Arabi there are twelve Qutbs or poles in all equaling the number of the twelve constellations. All of them are under the command of the twelve prophets respectively, Hazrat Nuh, Hazrat Ibrahim, Hazrat Musa, Hazrat Isa, Hazrat Daud, Hazrat Suleman, Hazrat Ayub, Hazrat Ilyas, Hazrat Lut, Hazrat Hud, Hazrat Salih and Hazrat Shuayb.

They are the analogues in the absent domain of the twelve constellations that rule over the witnessed domain. The Qutbs are upon the hearts or footsteps of all the corresponding Prophets according to the twelve earthly divisions that they are given to supervise. This means that they are the inheritors of the knowledge, stations and states of these specific Prophets.

The Qutb al Aqtab is at the head of all these Qutbs and is the inheritor of the Muhammadan Knowledge. The whole council functions with mutual consultation and agreement, the final command coming from the Holy Prophet s.w. Ghous as Saqlain, Ghous al Azam meaning the helper of man and jinn, the great helper was given command over the communities of man and jinn. The rank of Ghausiyyat-i-Uzma that was conferred on him is free from the constraints of time and space. He was made the sultan of the saints among all the walis who came before and after him, apart from the descendants Imams of the Prophet’s lineage.

The invisible hierarchy of Auliya Allah has at it’s head the Prophet s.w under whom is the viceregency of Hazrat Ali. Then there is the office of Ghous al Azam, He holds sway over the whole spiritual administration below him. All appointments, promotions and demotions are done by his recommendation, and he in turn takes the command from the Prophet s.w. The Qutb al Aqtab is the pivot or highest spiritual authority under him. He is chief of the temporal world in regard to it’s governance, whereas the Ghous al Azam is the chief in the spiritual realm.

The Qutb is surrounded by three nuqba [ watchers],

four awtad [ pillars ],

seven abrar [ pious ones ],

forty abdaal [substitutes ],

three hundred akhyaar [ good ones ],

and four thousand hidden saints whose saintship is not even known to themselves.

'We have been inspired that hadrat Mahdi 'alaih-ir-rahma' will be in this nisbat of ours; he will read and accept what we have written in marifat and haqiqat. ' Imam-i-Rabbani Mujaddid-i-Alf-i-Thani Ahmad Faruqi.

The Spiritual Administration

....According to Sufi belief there is at all times an established number of individuals serving as members in the spiritual administration of human and world affairs. It is due to their intervention and presence that the world is kept spinning on its axis. A holy saying of the Prophet s.w testifies to this: The world shall not perish until in it remains even a single person saying "Allah Allah". It is believed that this reference is to those chosen ones of Allah who due to their constant and pure remembrance of Him have attained to the station of special nearness to the Divine Presence. These privileged souls have been appointed at their stations and ranks by the Will of the Almighty. They maintain balance and equilibrium in the dispensation of world affairs. It is for their sake that Allah eases His Wrath and bestows His Mercy. Rain is made to descend and fields turn green in answer to their supplication. These people of special Grace are not known to the common folk, thus they are varyingly known by the names of "Rijaal-ul Ghayb", meaning the unseen men, or the "Awliya-e-Mastoor", meaning the hidden Friends.

One should not be misled by the term "Rijal-ul-Ghayb" into believing that membership in this hierarchy is only reserved for men, as the word rijal indicates. Shaykh-ul-Akbar Ibn Arabi in his Futuhat-al-Makkiyya relates that once a wali mastoor was asked about the number of the rijaal-ul-ghayb. He answered, "forty souls". He was again questioned regarding his reply as to why he did not say forty men. To this he answered saying that it was so because they included amongst them women as well.

Shaykh Fariduddin Attar says in his "Tadhkirat-al-Awliya", "When a woman gives the proof of courage and chivalry on the path of sulook or wayfaring, then she may no longer be called a female."

Hazrat Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani in "Safinatul-Awliya" sums up the debate in a beautiful couplet:

If women were such as we have described

They would have precedence over men;

The feminine appellation of the sun is not a handicap,

Just as the masculine reference to the moon does not make it superior.

Mystical Sufi texts carry abundant information regarding the names, stations and number of these holy people.

There are slight variations regarding the number and the placement of the groupings in the different recordings of spiritual narrations. The names of the sub-groups within the larger group of the "Hidden Men", however, remain the same.

According to Shaykh Ali Uthman Hujweri in his Kashf-ul Mahjoob there are a total of four thousand hidden ones. They are not aware of each other and neither do they know of their own stations. They work unbeknownst to themselves and to those around them. There are reports regarding their reality in the narratives of the Awliya and the traditions.

They have been called the chiefs of the heavenly troops.

They are divided into sub-groups of 300 Akhyar [pious ones],

40 Abdaal [the inter-changeable],

7 Abrars [the pure ones],

4 Awtad [the pillars],

3 Naqeeb [ the pegs]

and 1 Qutb [the Pole] who is also called the Ghaus [Helper].

They are known for solving difficulties and bringing relief by the command of Allah.

In other texts you find proof of the fact that some of the ranks recognise each other, and those that Allah wills to reveal, and the Akhyaar are the ones who remain unknown to each other and themselves. The Qutb or Ghaus being the head of all is aware of each ones station.

Shaykh Muhiyuddin Ibn Arabi has written profusely on this subject. He says in his Futuhat-al-Makkiyya that in every age there is an appointed Pole or Qutb whose given name is Abdullah meaning servant of Allah.

Under him are his two ministers called the Imam whose names are Abdul Malik and Abdur-Rab. Rab and Malik again being two of the Divine Names. After the demise of the Qutb one of these two graduates to his station succeeding him. Subservient to the two Imams are the four Awtad [Pillars] who are stationed at the four directions of the world, the North, South, East and West. They are in charge of looking after these four directions. There number is confirmed in every age.

Their titles are Abdul Hayy, Abdul Aleem, Abdul Qadir and Abdul Mureed being named such after the four of the seven primary Divine names.

Following them are the seven Abdaal who are placed over the seven heavenly spheres.

The first sphere is under the supervision of Hazrat Ibrahim Khalilullah. The remaining spheres are ruled by the Prophets Hazrat Musa Kaleemullah, Hazrat Harun, Hazrat Idris or Enoch, Hazrat Yusuf, Hazrat Isa and Hazrat Adam respectively.

These Abdaal are therefore on the footsteps of these Prophets of God. Their names also come from the attributes of Allah, for instance, Abdul Hayy, Abdul Aleem, Abdul Wadood, Abdul Qadir, Abdul Shakoor, Abdul Sami and Abdul Baseer.

According to Shaykh Abu Talib Makki the Abdaal arrive at their rank chiefly due to four things, and they being, hunger, sleeplessness, silence and solitude.

After the Abdaal there are twelve Nuqba [plural for Naqeeb]. Their figure is also established and they are appointed watchers over the 12 constellations.

They can view such planetary movements and heavenly changes that remain distant from the observation of the astronomers. In addition there are eight Nujaba [plural of Najeeb], meaning Noble Ones. Their station is the throne of Allah and they are given special knowledge regarding the seven primary attributes of Allah and their understanding.

After the Nujaba there is one "Hawari" [the faithful companion] and when he dies then another is appointed to take his place.

Thereafter are the "Rajbiyoon". They are called thus for they are appointed to their office in the month of Rajb. They are forty in number. The last one is the Khatm [Seal] as the name denotes. This station is reserved for the seal of the Muhammadan Sainthood. The concept of the seal of Muhammadan Walayat or sainthood is one that has great currency in Shaykh-ul-Akbar’s philosophy, in which he claims to be that. It has, however, not necessarily been accepted by other saints and scholars.

According to another opinion given in the Kashf-ul-Mahjub, amongst the Rijal-ul-Ghayb there are 300 Nuqaba whose heart-state is after the heart of Hazrat Adam.

They are called Naqeebs because they serve as watchers in the world; keeping things in place and watching over them.

The 70 Nujaba have hearts set after the heart of Hazrat Nuh. They are called Najeeb because of their nobility and illumined hearts.

The hearts of the forty Abdaal are set on the pattern of Hazrat Musa’s heart. Because they are the replacements of the Prophets, they are called Abdaal, which literally means the changed ones.

From the Rijaal-ul Ghayb there are 8 such individuals, who without being named, have been told to have hearts like Hazrat Isa.

7 Akhyaar have hearts after that of Hazrat Ibrahim. They are called Akhyaar [the best] for they are the best amongst humanity.

The hearts of the 5 Amaad are likened to the heart of Hazrat Jibrail. Amaad is the plural of amad which means pillar. Their value is that of a pillar to a building.

The 3 Awtad are set on the pattern of Hazrat Mikael’s heart. They are called Awtad which is the plural of watad meaning peg. They hold the world in place by their grace.

The ghaus or Qutb has the heart of Hazrat Israfil. He is stationed at the acme of the hierarchy.

When he passes away, one from the awtad takes his place, and subsequently another from the next lower grade fills the slot emptied by the watad and so it continues.

At the end of the line when the station of the Nuqaba is reached then one from amongst the ordinary is blessed with the privilege to take up his place. The fixed number of the rijal-ul-Ghayb is thus maintained under all conditions. When there is some crisis in the world then at first the Nuqaba pray for relief, and if there is still no respite, then the Abdaal intercede. After them the 8 unnamed Rijal-ul-Ghayb, then the Akhyaar. If the prayer still remains unanswered, the Ammad step in. Beyond them the Awtad, and if there is still no reprieve then the Ghaus or Qutb prays. The Ghaus is the helper and reliever of distress and his prayer is rarely left unanswered.

The Rijal-ul Ghayb are the carriers of the miraculous powers of Tai-al-Ard and Tai-al-Zaman. This means that they can cover long geographical distances in no time and so their being confined to a single place is not a limitation [Tai-al-Ard]. They can even traverse time and so past, present and future does not hold them [Tai-al-Zaman]. So it would be correct to say that they have entered the dimension of placelessness and timelessness.

According to yet another report, the whole group of the hidden ones is comprised of 360 individuals. The wali of the most basic level from amongst them, is sovereign in the radius of about 12 miles surrounding his presence or place of living. When the load of work on these unseen servants of humanity becomes too great then their number is increased. But, at no time is the limit to be reduced from the established number.

This in short, is an account of the appointed hidden workers of Allah who form the hierarchy of spiritual administration.

Al-Quran, Surah Naba, verse 6-7: "Have We not made the earth an expanse and made the mountains as pegs in the land".

The mystical interpretation of this verse is that it points to those chosen amongst men, the pious ones, who have been established as the bulwarks of humanity.

Al-Quran, Surah Ra’ad, verse 3: "He is The One Who has spread out the earth for you and has placed therein mountains and streams".

The mystical interpretation of this verse being that Allah has provided in the world means of stability, guidance, nourishment and ease for humanity. The mountain is a symbol of greatness and majesty. It is a physical feature of the earth that helps in keeping the land still and stable. When we reach the height of the mountain we are able to see far and wide and thus discern our direction. The stream offers us water to purify ourselves and to drink when thirsty. It provides relief from the summer heat and its coolness is a source of comfort to us. All dirt may be washed away in the flowing water of the stream. Similarly the holy saints of Allah provide breadth of vision to our understanding, and they teach us to be steadfast and forbearingly calm as the mountains. We are taught to find stability within ourselves by anchoring ourselves in the core of our Being. They are like the flowing streams of water, purifying, refreshing, satisfying and nourishing wherever they go.

Dua for Victory - Dua Nasiri

In the Name of Allah the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.

O You to Whose mercy one flees!

You in Whom the one in need and distress seeks refuge!

O Master, You Whose pardon is near!

O You Who help all who call on Him!

We seek Your help, O You who help the weak!

You are enough for us, O Lord!

There is nothing more majestic than Your immense power

and nothing mightier than the might of Your force.

Kings are humbled to the might of Your domain

and You lower or elevate whomever You wish.

The entire affair returns to You,

and the release or conclusion of all matters is in Your hand.

We have presented our affair before You,

and we complain to You of our weakness.

Have mercy on us, O You Who know our weakness

and continue to be merciful.

Look at what we have experienced from people!

Our state among them is as You see.

Our troops are few and our wealth is little.

Our power has declined among groups.

They have weakened our solidarity and strength

and diminished our numbers and our preparation.

O You Whose kingdom cannot be pillaged,

give us shelter by Your rank which is never overcome!

O Succour of the poor, we trust in You!

O Cave of the weak, we rely on You!

You are the One on Whom We call to remove our adversities,

and You are the One we hope will dispel our sorrows.

You have such concern for us that we cannot hope

for protection which comes through any other door.

We rush to the door of Your bounty

and You honour the one You enrich by Your gift.

You are the One Who guides when we are misguided.

You are the One who pardons when we slip.

You have full knowledge of all You have created

and encompassing compassion, mercy and forbearance.

There is no one in existence more lowly than we are

nor poorer and more in need of what You have than us.

O you of vast kindness! O You Whose good encompasses all mankind, and no other is called on!

O Saviour of the drowning! O Compassionate!

O rescuer of the lost! O Gracious Bestower!

Words are lacking, O Hearing, O Answerer!

The cure is difficult, O Swift! O Near!

To you, our Lord, we have stretched out our hands

and from You, our Lord, we hope for kindness.

Be kind to us in what You decree

and let us be pleased with what pleases You.

O Allah, change the state of hardship

for ease and help us with the wind of victory.

Give us victory over the aggressors

and contain the evil among those who asked for it.

Overpower our enemy, O Mighty, with a force

which disorders them and crushes them.

Overturn what they desire and make their efforts fail,

defeat their armies and unsettle their resolve.

O Allah, hasten Your revenge among them

They cannot stand before Your power.

O Lord, O Lord, Our protection is by Your love,

and by the might of Your help.

Be for us and do not be against us.

Do not leave us to ourselves for a single instant.

We have no power of defence

nor have we any device to bring about our benefit.

We do not aim for other than Your noble door,

we do not hope for other than Your encompassing bounty.

Minds only hope for Your blessing

by the simple fact that you say 'Be" and it is.

O Lord, O Lord, arrival is by You

to what You have and seeking the means is by You!

O Lord, You are our high pillar of support!

O Lord, You are our impregnable fortress.

O Lord, O Lord, give us security

when we travel and when we remain.

O Lord, preserve our crops and herds,

and preserve our trade and make our numbers more!

Make our land a land of the deen

and repose for the needy and the poor.

Give us force among the lands as well as respect,

impregnability and a polity.

Appoint it its might from the protected secret,

and grant it protection by the beautiful veiling .

By sad, qaf and nun,

place a thousand veils in front of it.

By the rank of the light of Your noble Face

and the rank of the secret of Your immense kingdom,

And the rank of 'la ilaha illa'llah'

and the rank of the Best of Creation, O our Lord,

And the rank of that by which the Prophets prayed to You

and the rank of that by which the Awliya' pray to you,

And the rank of the power of the Qutb and the Awtad

and the rank of the Jaras and Afrad,

And the rank of the Akhyar and the rank of Nujaba'

and the rank of the Abdal and the rank of the Nuqaba',

And the rank of every one worshipping and doing dhikr

and the rank of everyone praising and giving thanks,

And the rank of everyone whose worth You elevated

both those who are concealed and those whose renown has spread,

And the ranks of the firm ayats of the Book

and the rank of the Greatest Supreme Name,

O Lord, O Lord, make us stand as fuqara'

before You, weak and lowly.

We call to You with the supplication of the one

who calls on a noble Lord who does not turn aside those who call.

Accept our supplication with Your pure grace,

with the acceptance of someone who sets aside the fair reckoning.

Bestow on us the favour of the Generous,

and show us the kindness of the Forbearing.

O Merciful, extend Your mercy over us

and spread Your blessing over us, O Generous.

Choose for us in all our words

and select for us in all our actions.

O Lord, make it our habit to cling and devote ourselves

to the resplendent Sunna.

Confine our manifold desires to You

and grant us full and complete gnosis.

Combine both knowledge and action for us,

and direct our hopes to the Abiding Abode.

O Lord, make us follow the road of the fortunate

and make our seal the Seal of the martyrs, O Lord!

Make our sons virtuous and righteous,

scholars with action and people of good counsel.

O Allah, remedy the situation of the people

and, O Allah, make the reunification easy.

O Lord, grant Your clear victory to the one

who takes charge and empowers the Deen,

And help him, O You Who are forbearing, and help his party

and fill his heart with what will make him pleasing to you.

O Lord, help our Muhammadan deen,

and make it end mighty as it began.

Preserve it, O Lord, through the preservation of the scholars,

and raise the minaret of its light to heaven.

Pardon, grant well-being, make up for our deficiency

and forgive our sins and the sins of every Muslim, O our Lord.

O Lord, bless the Chosen one

with your perfect prayer of blessing.

Your prayer is that which grants success in his business

as befits his lofty worth.

Then bless his noble family and glorious Companions

and those who have followed them.

Praise belongs to Allah by whose praise

those with an aim completely fulfil that aim.

The following are details of groups of Awliya living on earth at any give time:

1.There are at any given time 4000 Awliya living on earth. They are not known and recognized by the general public. In fact, amongst them one does not know the other and they themselves are not aware of the validity of their actions and devotion.

All these are hidden from them and the general public.

2.Three hundred(300) from this group are statemen involved in the administration of this world. They control all transaction in this Duniyah. They are the leaders of all Pious people in the Divine Court of Allah Ta'Ala.They are known as AKHYAR.

3.Amongst these 300,there are 40 who are known as ABDAL-BUDALA.

4.Amongst these 40,seven(7) are ABRAR.

5.Amongst these 7,four(4) are AWTAD.

Shaykh al-Akbar(ra) in his famous Futuhat al-Makkiyyah records in the 157th section of the 31st chapter as follows:The seven(7) ABRAR are known as ABDAL,who are appointed the Wilayat(control) of the seven(7) sections of this earth. They are seven(7) selected ones and blessed with enormous duty by Allah Ta'Ala.They protect these seven regions with great exactitude.Shaykh al-Akbar(ra) also says that he met them in the scared Haram of Makkah al-Mukarrama.He greeted them and they replied to him and also had a discussion with them.Shaykh al-Akbar(ra) states that he had not found anyone more attractive and handsome than them neither had he seem anyone more absorbed in IBADAH than them.Shaykh then said:"Yes!I did certainly meet one person similar to them in a town called Konya."

Qutbanniyya By Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani

To accomplish these three standards of conduct is to reach the level of Qutbanniyya, to become a Qutub.

The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets.

This does not refer to those scholars who gained their knowledge from books, but rather those Aqtab to whom Allah opened these six powers in their hearts, and the knowledge of their seven personal names.

The five highest levels of Qutub are:

Qutub,

Qutub al-Bilad,

Qutub al-Mutassarif,

Qutub al-Irshad, and

Qutub al-Aqtab.

Qutub is the one whom Allah granted a power that brings out from the essence of Muhammad to extract knowledge from non-existence of the Prophet into this dunya.

He extracts new knowledge from the heart of the Prophet Muhammad ?. This is the first level Qutub.

Qutub al-Bilad is responsible for the order of this world and to hold it together. He knows the needs of every race or group of creatures.

Qutub al-Irshad advises the 124,000 Awliya.

Qutub al-Mutassarif is authorized to channel the “happy angels” (as we described before) to different people and creatures, and is responsible even for the smallest worm that dwells inside a rock. And all of these are coming from Sayedena Muhammad (S).

Qutub al-Aqtab supervises and is responsible for all other Aqtab. ?

The Quawth

Above all five Aqtab is the Quawth.

He is between the “Pillar of Pillars” and the Prophet. He is the pipe, the channel. Sayed Bahauddin Naqshband was one of them, as was Sayed Abdul Qadir al-Jilani. From century to century they differ.

The Aqtab and the Quawth generate - directly from the heart of the Prophet (s)

· all knowledge's and all events that transpire in this world, from wind, to earthquakes, to rain. They must be ashraf from both paternal and maternal lineage, from Ahl al-Bayt, Hassani and Husayni. If by any chance they are not from the family of the Prophet and they are able to reach that level, then they will inherit from Salman al-Farsi, for the Prophet included him as a member of Ahl al-Bayt. He told his wife not to cover in front of Sayyidi Salman, saying, Salman minee Ahlul Bayt, although he had emigrated to the Prophet from Persia.

· Every matter of the universe is in the hands of these Aqtab, coming from Allah to Prophet, from Prophet to the aqtab. Wa yahmiloon ‘arsh ar-rahmanu yaumaidhin thamaaneeya.

· Allah created eight angels to carry the Divine Throne; no one else can carry it. Allah created these angels in a form beyond description. These eight were happy to carry the Throne, not proud, but they began to consider themselves the highest level of angels.

· Allah decided to show them His Greatness and that they are nothing. He dissolved everything underneath them and they no longer had support. Then is the Throne carrying them?

· These eight angels send their power to the six awliya we just mentioned. Allah said, “I am creating a khalifa on earth.” They replied, “Are you going to create those who will make corruption on earth and shed blood and ...”

· Allah showed that they would be praised ones. In fact, these Aqtabs and the Quawth support the angels. If any of them are from other than the Naqshbandi Sufi Order, Allah gives permission to Prophet, and Prophet gives permission to their shaykh to carry the Naqshbandi Order in addition to whatever other Sufi Order they carry.

· That is why such awliya carry power from seven different tariqats.

· As Qutubs are five in number at all times, when one passes he is replaced by another.

· Allah created unique ones, the essence of the Qutubs, to take ecstasy and knowledge from every name of Allah ?. That knowledge they extract brings them to a state of ecstasy that no one could find except through those beautiful Names of Allah. From every unique name they can experience 700,000 different levels of ecstasy, from which they can pull out for humanity 700,000 different wisdoms.

After they move into these Oceans of wisdom and knowledge and their veils are pulled away, they will reach the Divine Presence at a place where they will observe the verse Allahu nuru samawati wal ard: “Allah is the Light of the heavens and earth.” And they cannot see except that light.

The Saints of Islam

The Islamic saint is commonly known as a wali [plural, awliya] and is derived from the root meaning of ‘nearness’, example next of kin, patron, protector, and friend. While the Sufis are the elect of the Islamic community, the saints are the elect of the Sufis.

The Sufis holiness brings him near to Almighty Allah, and who receive from Him [Exalted and Invisible is He], as tokens of His favor, miraculous gifts [karamat]; they are His friends, on whom "no fear shall come and they shall not grieve", and injury done to them is an act of hostility against Him [Exalted and Invisible is He]. In consequence of their intimate relation to Almighty Allah, the veil shrouding supernatural, or, as Muslims would say, the unseen world, from their perceptions is withdrawn at intervals, and in their fits of ecstasy they rise to the Prophetic level. Any one thus enraptured [majdhub] is a wali and they are venerated as saints not only after death, but also during their lives. Often, however, they live and die in obscurity (shadows).

Shaikh Sayyid Ali ibn Uthman al-Hujwiri (known in Pakistan as Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh), tell us that amongst the saints, "there are 4000 who are concealed and do not know one another and are not aware of the excellence of their state, being in all circumstances hidden from themselves and from mankind."

The saints from an invincible hierarchy, on which the order of the world is thought to depend. Its supreme head is entitled the Qutb [Axis] and he is the most eminent Sufi of his age, and presides over the meetings regularly held by this august parliament, whose members are not hampered in their attendance by the inconvenient fictions of time and space, but come together from all parts of the earth in the twinkling of an eye, traversing seas and mountains and deserts as easily as common mortals step across a road. Below the Qutb stand various classes and grades of sanctity. Hujwiri enumerates them, in ascending series, as follows: 300 Akhyar [Good], 40 Abdal [Substitutes], 7 Abrar [Pious], 4 Awtad [Supports], and 3 Nuqaba [Overseers].

"All these saints know one another and cannot act without mutual consent. It is the task of the Awtad to go round the whole world every night, and if there should be any place on which their eyes have not fallen, next day some flaw will appear in that place, and they must then inform the Qutb in order that he may direct his attention to the weak spot and that by his blessings the imperfection may be remedied."

[Courtesy: The Mystics of Islam by Dr. Reynold A. Nicholson]

Shaikh Sayyiduna Abdul Qadir Jilani (may Allah be pleased with him) once said that if Shaikh Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Uthman al-Jullabi al-Hujwiri (may Allah be pleased with him) was still alive, he would be a disciple of this great Awliya. Shaikh Hujwiri was born in a small town in Afghanistan near Ghazni. He came to Lahore in 1039, during the reign of Sultan Masud, the son of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni and stayed until his death in 1073. Such was the gratitude of the people of Lahore for his spiritual gifts that they called him by the simple Hindi name "Data" [meaning "the giver"] or else "Data Ganj Bakhsh" ["the giver who bestows treasure"]. Shaikh Hujwiri exerted a significant influence on Muslim spiritual life through his writings, above all the famous Kashf al-mahjub [Revelation of the Mystery] and his tomb, which was built by the grandson of Sultan Mahmud, remains an important hub for followers of Sufism from all schools.

When Shaikh Sayyid Muinuddin Chishti (may Allah be well pleased with him) came from Afghanistan to India in the closing years of the 12th century, he is said to have stopped to pray and meditate at the tomb of Shaikh Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Uthman al-Jullabi al-Hujwiri (may Allah be pleased with him) to seek permission to go further, since Data Ganj Bakhsh had spiritual authority over the entire Indian sub-continent. Shaikh Sayyid Muinuddin Chishti (may Allah be well pleased with him) evidently received permission to proceed, together with the extensive authority, and as a result, the Chishti Sufi Tariqat is probably the most extensive lineage in South Asia.

Present day Chishti Sufi leaders in Pakistan have criticized Dr. Reynold A. Nicholson for his assumption that Sufi doctrine and practice was some kind later deviation from pristine Islam; and these Chishti Sufi leaders maintained that it is in fact Sufism that provides the surest guide to the true meaning of the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace). In this spirit the late Captain Maulana Wahid Bakhsh Sial Rabbani (may Allah be pleased with him), produced a new, complete English translation and commentary on Shaikh Hujwiri's Kashf al-mahjub. Nevertheless Capt. Maulana Wahid Bakhsh Sial Rabbani (may Allah be pleased with him) also acknowledged that it was Nicholson's translation of Kashf al-mahjub that in 1935 inspired the conversion to Islam of a young Englishman named Lennard, who later became a Chishti master under his Muslim name, Shahidullah Faridi. So it might be concluded that even writings produced with an Orientalist perimeter can have a personal impact, in which the spiritual blessing [baraka], of the original text comes through.

THE INVISIBLE GOVERNMENT:

----------------------------------------------------

Have you heard of an invisible govt. of sufi saints of islam ?, i heard that existed under the name of a complete system called " Takwini nizam".

Basically Awlia are divided into two groups

A) Ahle irshad: they are supposed to be on the mission of dawa

B) Ahle takwin: they are supposed to be involved in the administrative duties

it might some times happen, that a person is holding both the two responsibilities at the same time.

There are 12 groups in Ahle takwin;

1)ABDAL, they are 40 in number,Out of them 22 or 12 in Sham, and 18 or 28 are found in Iraq.

2)ABRAR, they are considered synonimus with Abdal

3)AKHYAR,They are 500 or 700 in number,They don,t stay in one place, remain constantly on the move,In spiritual world their name is " Hussain"

4)AQTAB,-"Qutub ul alam" is one in the world,He is also called "Qutub ul Aqtab" and "qutub e madar"

He has got two senior ministers (Wazir),called (5) IMAMAIN, The Wazir on the right hand is called Abdul malik, and on the left is called

Abul rab. In addition to these two there are 12 additional qutubs. seven of them are on the seven continents, called " qutub e aqleem"

and 5 are in yamen, called " qutube walayat".On a smaller level,in every city there is one junior qutub posted.

These seven QUTUBE AQLEEM are on the footsteps of seven prophets

the 1st one is the steps of sydena Ibrahim AS,his name is Abdul hayye

6)AWTAD,are 4 in number,on all the four corners of the world

7)AMAD, are also 4 in number,on four important locations in the world, their names are " Muhammad"

8)GHOUS, is one, some consider Qutubul aqtab as ghous

9)Ghous,upgrades to become FARD and Fard upgrads to become QUTUB E WAHDAT,and this is considered to be the highest acheivable post.

10)MAKTOOM, these are hidden from the eyes of others

11)NAJABA, these are 70,all live in Egypt, all are named " Hassan"
